![]() K-12 Curriculum: Religion: Daily classes in the Catholic faith • Based upon the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church • K - traditional program based on the liturgical year • 1st – 8th by Ignatius Press; Endorsed by the Pontificium Consilium Pro Familia • Catechism of the Catholic Church, The Ignatius Bible and the Baltimore Catechism are used as a supplement • Introduction to Apologetics in 8th • High School: Introduction to Catholicism, Scripture, Church History, Morality and advanced Apologetics • papal encyclicals studied each year • Students volunteer 30 hours of Christian service annually Language Arts: Intensive phonics in the lower grades • Spelling and Vocabulary books are one full year ahead of the grade level intended • Traditional Literature series and reading of classic novels • Literary analysis and comprehension are stressed • Writing across the curriculum, utilizing all steps of the writing process • Classical Grammar, including diagramming sentences • High School: World, American, English, and British Literature, along with Speech and Advanced Composition. Mathematics: Time- honored math program allows students to advance in grade levels in which they show proficiency. • Computational Skills • Mathematical reasoning and critical thinking skills •High School: Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus. History: History series is Catholic based, embracing Patriotism • Geography up to 9th grade yearly • High School: World Geography, World History, U.S. History and Civics/Economics. Science: Science concepts • Hands on labs • God recognized and honored as Creator, as presented in the teachings of the Catechism of the Catholic Church • Evolution presented as theory • High School: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Spanish/Latin: Spanish is taught in K-6th and High School Spanish I & II • Latin in 7th and 8th Computer: Lab • Keyboarding • Word Processing • Computer Assisted Design skills (CAD) Physical Education: Technique instruction and skill progression in various sports • Art Docent Program: Classic artists are presented once a month K-12 • Artist style is discussed and then recreated by the students utilizing various mediums • Art History is taught in the High School Poetry: Memorization and presentation of classical poetry K-8 Music: Music lessons are offered, teaching various band instruments • Choir grades K-5 • Music Docent Program |
