SJAHS Online Classes 2016-2017

SJA Online

SJA is founded on traditional Catholic formation and classical education principles.  However, we also recognize the importance of offering as many opportunities for our students to learn and be prepared for the demands of their adult lives.  In light of this, we are proud to offer an extensive on-line curriculum for our students.  On-line courses not only increase opportunities for academic growth, but they may also strategically position a student to have an advantage in college admissions. SJA Online is not the “wave of the future”; rather, it is an essential component of a college preparatory curriculum in in today’s technological world.

SJA Online Courses

Students work with our College Counselor and Online Coordinator to maximize the benefits of our on-line offerings.  Online courses are classified as Advanced Placement (substitutes for an existing SJA course), Supplemental (taken in addition to a full SJA class load and can include AP courses) and Credit Recovery (taken to make-up for incomplete grades and final course grades of C- or lower).   All SJA Online courses are graded and appear on official student transcripts.  .

SJA Online Direction and Support

Student learning and success is our number one priority.  Thus, SJA has insisted on providing this distinguishing feature of full-time on-line teacher support for SJA Online. On-line teachers provide direction and support, via phone and webmail, in the same fashion as a traditional classroom teacher during normal business hours.  For technical issues with on-line classes, there is a support staff available by phone at all times.  In addition to this instructional and technical help, students in every course are monitored and supported by an administrator at SJAHS to assure that their online experience is optimized.
